On Saturday I found out that a friend of mine had committed suicide. At first I was holding it together, but it didn't take long until it all fell apart. I have so many questions and most of them can't be answered. What makes a person that was so full of life that he instantly made people smile want to take his life? Why did he feel that he couldn't reach out to someone instead when there are so many that cared and would have helped if they had known? How many people are struggling to make it through a day, but hide it so well that no one sees what's coming? Were there signs that everyone missed because we were all too busy to see?
It seems that we are all rushing through life and I think maybe one of the few times we realize that we might need to slow down is when someone dies and for a while it seems like our world has stopped while everyone else is still rushing by.
I hope you find whatever it is that you were looking for, Derek.

Things I love
1. My Interpersonal Communications class.
This class seriously makes you take a step back and look at your life, however uncomfortable that may be sometimes. His blog for the lesson today is a good one.
2. Getting letters in the mail.
Emails just aren't the same as snail mail.
3. This song by The Weepies

4. How it's cold here when you wake up.
It's refreshing to wake up to a cool breeze instead of 95 degree heat and 500000% humidity.
5. This blurry picture of the sunset while going home.
